On 30 September 2026, Tesla Korea announced additional high-voltage battery coverage for certain vehicles in South Korea. The extension specifically concerns charging restrictions caused by a BMS a079 or a074 warning. It does not give every Tesla vehicle, or every battery problem, 12 years of coverage.

The extension adds 2 years or 40,000 km to the existing Battery Peace of Mind Care program, ending when either the time or mileage limit is reached first. Tesla Korea's official announcement

All three eligibility conditions must be met

  1. Vehicle and battery: Model 3 and Model Y must be fitted with Panasonic batteries produced before October 2022. The vehicle's delivery date alone does not establish eligibility. For Model S and Model X, the notice lists vehicles produced before 2020 in its eligibility conditions.

  2. Covered symptom: A BMS a079 or a074 warning must have caused a charging restriction.

  3. Warranty requirements: The vehicle must meet Tesla's normal warranty requirements. Damage caused by accidents, external impacts, flooding, unauthorized modifications or other causes excluded under the normal warranty is not covered.

For Model S and Model X, the conditions say vehicles produced before 2020, while the coverage table lists 2017–2020 model years. Production year and model year can differ, so owners should confirm eligibility by VIN, especially for a 2020 model-year vehicle. Official eligibility conditions and coverage scope

Coverage periods and mileage limits by model

The following comparison comes from Tesla's notices. The final column applies only when the vehicle, battery and symptom also meet the new extension's conditions.

Vehicle group

Including the existing Battery Care program

Including the new extension

Model 3 and Model Y RWD

10 years or 200,000 km

12 years or 240,000 km

Model 3 and Model Y Long Range or Performance

10 years or 232,000 km

12 years or 272,000 km

Model S and Model X

10 years or 280,000 km

12 years or 320,000 km

Every entry means whichever comes first. The 12-year figure is a total coverage limit, not a new period starting now. Owners should also check the warranty supplied with their vehicle for its original coverage. Existing Battery Care notice · New extension's coverage table

Announced in October 2025, the existing Battery Care program supports high-voltage battery inspections and failures for Model 3 and Model Y vehicles delivered in South Korea before August 2023, and Model S and Model X vehicles delivered there before June 2025. Eligible used vehicles also receive this support, without a separate application. Eligibility for the existing program does not automatically qualify a vehicle for the latest additional two years. How this differs from ordinary battery capacity loss

The latest extension covers charging restrictions associated with the specified warnings. Ordinary battery degradation or reduced driving range alone does not establish eligibility.

This should also be distinguished from the minimum 70% capacity-retention provision in the normal battery limited warranty. The new notice does not state that it extends that capacity guarantee to 12 years across the board. Tesla's vehicle warranty guidance · Scope of the additional coverage

How to check your vehicle's eligibility

The extension applies automatically to eligible vehicles. The form below is an optional eligibility check, not an enrollment application.

Submit your VIN and contact details to receive confirmation by text message within one business day. Weekend and public-holiday submissions are handled on the next business day. You can copy the VIN from the vehicle information at the bottom of the Tesla app.

Even after a positive VIN response, final eligibility can depend on the battery actually installed, inspection findings and battery replacement history. A previous battery replacement does not, by itself, mean the vehicle is automatically excluded. Official eligibility-check and automatic-coverage guidance
